St. Anselm was an Italian theologian and philosopher who lived from 1033 to 1109. He is known for his contributions to the understanding of faith and reason, and his ontological argument for the existence of God. Anselm was the Archbishop of Canterbury from 1093 until his death in 1109. He is considered one of the most important Christian thinkers of the Middle Ages and is also recognized as a Doctor of the Church. He wrote several influential works, including Proslogion, Monologion, and Cur Deus Homo. His feast day is celebrated on April 21 in the Roman Catholic Church and on December 4 in the Episcopal Church.
